For flights to San Jose, Costa Rica, we recommend checking https://www.google.com/flights/
When arriving before midday, you can take a shuttle directly from San Jose to Puerto Viejo for a 4-5 hour journey – http://www.caribeshuttle.com/
If arriving later, we recommend staying the night in San Jose & booking a shuttle direct from hotel in the morning. We recommend Hotel Aranjuex for their famous breakfast – book here
